We offer different methods to seal porous/ fractured soil and rock which can be adapted to your special needs. The processes are based on:
- solutions of sodium water glass/ silica gel
- cement
- mineral forming solutions
The application of mineral forming solutions (provoked mineral synthesis) is a special process which is used to seal very fine flow ways. Solutions with high concentration of CaSO4 are produced and can be used as a grout. Their preparation bases on the use of special precipitation inhibitors. These allow the mixing of components which are normally incompatible (CaCl2- and MgSO4 solution). In the presence of suitable precipitation inhibitors, however, temporarily stable, clear and oversaturated solutions are obtained. Flow ways start to be blocked from the inner side by time controlled crystallisation of gypsum. Significant reduction of permeability occurs causing the blockage of water flow ways in mining, tunnelling or shaft lining. Advantageous applications take place in sealing of solution inflows of halite and salt mining.
We have experience in production and application of different grouts. We also look for the best grout for your special needs. We offer column tests for estimation of oversaturated solutions as well as the setup of the plant inclusive implementing and monitoring. IBZ-Salzchemie GmbH & Co. has some patents for rock sealing directed by gypsum- or calcium carbonate formation out of oversaturated solutions.
